Prof Dr SP Singh completed his MBBS in 1980 and MD (General Medicine) in 1985 from SCB Medical College, Cuttack. He earned his DM (Gastroenterology) from CMC, Vellore in 1988. He started the D.M. Course in Gastroenterology at SCB Medical College, Cuttack, Odisha, India in 2010 and is currently the professor and head of the department of Gastroenterology at SCBMCH, Cuttack.
Career Highlights
- Started World Hepatitis B Eradication Day in 2001, which was later endorsed by WHO.
- Conferred “National Professor” by Indian Medical Association College of GP.
- Member of Public Health Panel of World Hepatitis Alliance [WHA] [2008 – 2011] and launched World Hepatitis Atlas at Geneva on 19 May 2008.
- Currently: President Elect of INASL [Indian National Association for study of Liver].
- Past Secretary General of INASL [Indian National Association for study of Liver]: 2009 –2015.
- Past President of ISG [Indian Society of Gastroenterology]: 2012-2013.
- Currently: President of SAASL [South Asian Association for study of Liver]: 2015 onwards.

- Recipient of the 2017 ISG [Indian Society of Gastroenterology] SR Naik Award.

- More than 150 Publications including 100 in Pubmed.
- Author of over 20 National Guideline/Consensus Papers on various Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases of importance.
